The National Air and Space Museum, on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., is one of the most visited museums in the United States, home to some of the most iconic artifacts in aviation and space history. As part of a major renovation, 12 galleries across the museum were being redesigned and rebuilt, and ARUBA supported Haley Sharpe with the artworking across several of them.

Our favourite of the project was the Kenneth C. Griffin Exploring the Planets Gallery, which takes visitors on a journey through the science and history of our understanding of the solar system – exploring how our knowledge of the planets and moons around us has evolved, and how we’ve gone about exploring them.

The gallery’s centrepiece is “Walking on Other Worlds,” an immersive, nearly 360-degree audiovisual experience that transports visitors across seven different worlds – Venus, Earth’s Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn’s moon Titan, the asteroid Ryugu and comet 67P – blending real spacecraft imagery with CGI.

Our job was to meticulously work through the vast amount of wall, floor and in-case graphics needed throughout this gallery, and others across the museum. A fascinating project to be part of, and our thanks go to the team at Haley Sharpe for including us in it.
