When Statfold Country Park needed to transform an empty, plain white-walled walkway into a fitting welcome for their world-class Roundhouse Museum, Aruba Creative was brought on board at the eleventh hour to deliver – fast.

The Roundhouse Museum is home to one of the finest collections of narrow-gauge steam and diesel locomotives in the world, with engines gathered from across the globe arranged around a working turntable. It’s a genuinely impressive space, and the brand-new walkway leading into it deserved an entrance that matched – instead of a bare, unfinished corridor still mid-build.

With the clock ticking, we moved quickly from creative concept to finished install. We developed initial ideas and mockups, surveyed the site, produced the artwork, and had the vinyls manufactured and fitted – turning the dead space into an immersive, steam-themed “carriage” walkway that sets the scene before visitors even reach the museum doors. The owner, Graham Lee MBE, was delighted with the result, and the whole project was completed just in time for the Easter rush.

A clever finishing touch

One of the standout ideas on this project was the use of magnetic vinyl for the “windows” of the carriage-themed walkway. Rather than fixed graphics, this allows the window scenes to be swapped out quickly and cost-effectively – anyone on-site can change them in seconds, with no specialist tools or installer required. It’s a simple detail that gives Statfold Country Park an easy, low-cost way to keep the space feeling fresh long after our work was done.
