ARUBA supported Lima Studio with the artwork for a small but striking exhibition at Preston Park, introducing visitors to the work of Victorian painter William Powell Frith.
Frith was one of the great chroniclers of nineteenth-century British life, celebrated for his sweeping, densely populated panoramas of Victorian society, and one of the most popular painters of his day.
For this exhibition, Preston Park was fortunate enough to secure the loan of three of Frith’s most celebrated works: one from Manchester Art Gallery, and two from His Majesty The King’s personal collection. Visitors were able to see Derby Day, The Railway Station and Life at the Seaside (Ramsgate Sands) together in one space – a rare opportunity to experience three of Frith’s finest panoramic scenes side by side. Our wall vinyls picked out and introduced some of the many characters woven through these paintings, helping bring the crowds within each canvas to life for visitors exploring the space.
A compact exhibition with a big impact, and a pleasure to support Lima Studio in bringing Frith’s Victorian world to a new audience at Preston Park.
