The Penn Museum – the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, in Philadelphia – is a world-leading institution for Near Eastern archaeology. Its Middle East Galleries take visitors on a 10,000-year journey through the region’s history, told through more than 1,200 objects across three themed spaces.

ARUBA supported Haley Sharpe with the artworking of every graphic across the gallery – taking creative visuals, technical drawings, display case layouts and curated content, and turning it all into finished, production-ready graphics worthy of the rare artifacts they sat alongside, from treasures of the Royal Tombs of Ur to one of the world’s oldest surviving wine vessels.

The galleries were unveiled at a preview gala attended by University of Pennsylvania President Amy Gutmann, before opening to the public. As the Museum’s first new signature gallery, the project drew warm press coverage, praising the light, airy redesign for letting objects – including the fabled headdress of Sumerian queen Puabi – take centre stage.

A genuine privilege to play a part in this project, in support of the team at Haley Sharpe.
